MY USA ADVENTURE – SAILING ON LAKE LANIER (GEORGIA)

HELLO BLOGGETTES!!!

I am loving my USA adventure!! I had the blessed opportunity of going SAILING on LAKE LANIER!

LAKE LANIER

Lake Lanier (known as Lake Sidney Lanier ) is the largest lake in Georgia and is located approximately 45 minutes from northeast of Atlanta. The Lake became a household name internationally in 1996 when the City of Gainesville hosted the Olympic Canoe and Kayak events at the Olympic Venue which is now home to Lanier Canoe & Kayak Club and Lake Lanier Rowing Club. Lake Lanier opened in 1957 after construction was completed by the U.S Army Corps of Engineers. It is a multi-purpose lake and serves many functions such as hydroelectricity, navigation, flood control, wildlife management, and provides water supply – you can also go fishing and boating on the lake.  The Lake receives over seven million visitors annually.

Sailing on lake lanier was a great opportunity and I am thankful to my peer collaborator and his beautiful wife for inviting me to spend the day with them on their boat – My Funny Valentine (for more on my peer collaborator and my adventures as a Mandela Washington Fellow visit my website silindilenbuthelezi.com ).

Here are my favourite highlights on my sailing adventures on Lake Lanier –
